We are working with the Madison Education Partnership (MEP) to design locally responsive professional development (PD) for 4K teachers. In the course of this study we will (a) identify opportunities for instructional improvement through classroom observations and teacher focus groups, (b) co-design PD with teachers, and (c) pilot the PD in the Madison Metropolitan School District. By bringing together early childhood scholars with educators responsible for the 4K program, we will enrich our understanding of challenges in 4K education, develop approaches to addressing those challenges, and enhance equality of educational opportunity.
